Last weekend appeared in press news that German Chancellor wanted English brought skilled workers to meet the demand for employment in the country, which is not entirely true because to start the original story appeared in Der Spiegel referred to European workers in general, but that's another topic. Anyway as things are in Spain, maybe not such a bad idea to come with the Merkel is not it?

Honestly my decision to emigrate was not as determined by economic conditions as by the scientist, so I do not know if my experience will help a lot because as every experience is incredibly personal and subjective. That said now I can go on and confess that I like that. I have the fortune to live in Munich , which although not a large city (with one third of inhabitants Madrid) if you offer great options at both work and leisure (the same or even better can be said of Berlin, especially in As for the latter), especially in my area: science and research. In addition Bavaria is the richest region of Germany and if you are lucky enough to fall into a reputable institution as Chances are that you own all the technology and the best facilities allowing a lot of freedom to develop projects risky or innovative research. It is also an advantage not having to worry that the DNA extraction kit you need and that costs, say, 500 euros will be your gift of kings because the money ran out the project in November (this never happened, although if I had to reuse the pipette tips in the Uni what times!). In this vein Spain has come a long way and although it is true that there are research institutes where working conditions are similar to those mentioned (I know because I was lucky enough to work one) are not the norm.
And how to peel the thing here ... and it depends. Laboratory depends on where you work, the boss you touch, if you have a contract or cobras Stipendium (Scholarship). For trainees, the salary tends to vary between about 1200 and 1800 euros in case you get a scholarship as Boehringer-Ingelheim , where competition is tough, then the salary should be deducted medical insurance to be paid separately. If you are lucky enough to get a contract (usually not much given to it) I squeezed by taxes but by the end staying with about 1200-1500 euros and also by making the declaration usually leave to return (apart from when you finish you get a few months of unemployment, they are never wrong, especially in the great unknown of future research in life).

how do things work schedules? Therefore depends also because science is not like work 9am-5pm and everyone can ride it like or want, but I noticed the "subtle" differences, eg
Saturday 5 pm, my laboratory Germany
Saturday 5 pm, my old lab in Barcelona:
Vaaaale, we accept that perhaps these two cases are not representative but the truth is that the work environment in my lab is super relaxed, and not least production may be the exception but also because of other LABOS (biochemistry, protein structure ...) where people work from sunrise to sunset. Neuroscience Will have more clear how best brains to be productive? Keine Ahnung
I can think of many more things to say, "I said as they have a coffee horrible? but if you want to know more or you have specific questions, you know where the comment option.
Bis dann!
